What is the accademia l’arte del mondo?
The accademia l’arte del mondo, which launched its first season in summer 2008, is a workshop for music students and professional musicians. In three or four phases a year, the accademia offers participants the opportunity to explore the special sonorities of historical instruments and develop playing styles and techniques together with internationally renowned experts, including Werner Ehrhardt, Andrea Keller, and Gerhart Darmstadt, all specialists in music of the 17th through early 19th centuries.
Concert programs will be prepared and performed jointly with instructors and soloists such as Daniel Hope, Viktoria Mullova, Christoph Prégardien, Reinhold Friedrich, Simone Kermes, and Uri Caine. These programs will range from the Italian baroque through the classical era and beyond, extending also to creative projects in the intercultural realm of jazz. Thematically related lectures and sessions focusing on the body will complement the musical work. The accademia l’arte del mondo is understood as a visionary project, a place to forge ideas, and a training ground. It is a chance to expose talented instrumentalists to the modern approach to music from the baroque to the early romantic period.
